My Experience With Eyelash Extensions

I have always had long eyelashes. However, as I got older, the use of mascara left them shorter and not as thick. Lash extensions are one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. They are easy to care for and pull your look together. Here are a few tips, advise and information I have learned since getting extensions.

1. You will enjoy not wearing makeup
When others told me I would be able to roll out of bed and not feel the need to apply makeup, I didn’t believe them. I have hereditary dark circles that will never go away, so I always feel insecure without concealer. However somehow, I found myself feeling good without the concealer just because of my lashes. They seemed to have lifted everything and make my eyes appear brighter and more awake, even with the dark circles.
2. It will make makeup a little more exciting
When you choose to wear makeup, everything seems to be amplified by big lashes. Even just a little bronzer and lipstick combined with the extensions give you a glam look!
3. It's far less harmful and easier than strip lashes
If you are someone who likes to apply falsies often, this is the best option for you. This way, you can save time and damage to your lashes. There are no worries about your lashes coming unglued throughout the day. Also, the removal process of strip lashes is more likely to pull out your lashes than extensions and cause wrinkles.
4. Be prepared to change the way you remove makeup
With lash extensions, you do have to be gentler with your eyes. It’s also preferred to use oil-free makeup remover. My favorite is from Neutrogena.
5. Getting them applied will take time
It is not a quick process. The first time can take anywhere from 1.5 hours to 3 depending on the technician. Fill-ins can take 45 minutes to 1.5 hours. So be aware that it is a time commitment.
6. Do your research
I have been to two salons with two different price points. The first-place cost $120 the first time and $40 each fill-in. My second salon, the first application cost $170 with fill-ins being $50. If you are in search of a cheap option, look into the best places that offer synthetic lashes. Personally, I like extensions made of mink. They are softer, lighter and look a lot more natural. The price point is worth it because of the quality. Also, look into your technicians on Facebook or Instagram to see their work.
7. Your lashes could be longer or shorter after removal
When I got my lashes removed this past summer, I noticed mine were shorter than before getting them. After using vitamin E and castor oil daily on my lashes, they grew back entirely within a month. However, my friend’s eyelashes were significantly longer after getting removed because the lashes protected them.
