Top 8 Instagram Editing Apps

Instagram is a powerful social media platform. Posting photos are one of the best ways to announce what is going on in your life. It's easy! No need for a long caption to explain what is going on, all the world has to do is look at the photos. And considering everything on the internet lasts forever, might as well make the posts look good!

UNUM has helped me the most with keeping my Instagram looking tidy and coordinated. This is a free program that allows you to upload your photos in a grid form and help plan your post. Putting them on a grid will let you move them around and make a feed that compliments eachother. You can also edit photos on this app if you need to make any adjustments.

Afterlight is arguably the original instagram editing app. At one time, Instagram did not allow you to change your photo size. Afterlight gave you the option of creating white borders so you could keep the original size. However, now that Instagram allows you to adjust the size, there is little use for that afterlight feature. There are still great filters on the app including light beam add-ons that can add a colorful flair or dimension to the photo.
VSCO is probably the most popular editing app today. I can understand why. The free filters that come with the app are great, but once you start purchasing filters, your options grow enormously. I usually do not use filters because of the way they flatten the details and overpower the photograph. But with VSCO, you can adjust the filters, and they instead emphasize the photos details rather than meshing them together. Picking one or two filters that you love to use for your photos will help with a "theme". The photo colors will let your feed blend together.
Layout is the collage app Instagram sponsors. If you need to combine any photographs, this is the one to do it. You can choose up to 9 pictures and post directly to Instagram.
HUJI film is a relatively new editing app to the Instagram scene. The free version is a camera setting. Once you take the photo, it’s a gamble as to how the vintage filters will lay. The best part is the date it puts in the corner making it truly look like an old photograph. If you pay 99 cents, you have the option to upload the photos you have already taken and get the same editing results.
Google Photos is a great option if you have limited storage on your phone. You can upload all of your photos to your email/google account. When you are ready to use one, just directly download it into your camera roll.

Font Candy is excellent for titling or adding words to your photographs. You may not want to use them on your actual Instagram, but it surprisingly comes in handy for other little things.
Warmlight is my final suggestion. It is a more straightforward way of editing without all the extras. If you are looking for something easy, this is the way to go. You can adjust all of the little things like lighting and saturation.
